The communists in Iran against the axis of resistance: the regime in Tehran is leading to a dead end In the last three decades, the branches of the regime, under the direct orders of Khamenei, conducted an adventurous and very expensive foreign policy designed to recruit Islamist allies outside Iran's borders. At the same time, instead of promoting growth and sustainable development that would benefit the population, the regime promoted a neoliberal economic policy that turned the Iranian economy into a site of looting and capital accumulation by the regime's associates and the big capitalists. The result is a bankrupt economy, in which fluctuations in the dollar exchange rate and a corrupt financial-commercial sector harm the well-being of the working people and endanger the national interest. Until recently, the state media and the commanders of the Revolutionary Guards spread excessive propaganda that presented the "Axis of Resistance" as a shield and deterrent against Israel. Now it was revealed for all to see that this assessment was profoundly wrong. In response to the difficult situation they found themselves in, it seems that the regime's leaders hope to find a solution through negotiations with the US that will return the regional balance of power to its pre-war situation. Such a solution, they hope, will secure the imperial interests of the US, prevent an all-out war with Israel and allow for the Islamic Republic to maintain its position as a regional power. The Islamic Republic will not liberate Palestine There are political groups and commentators outside the regime's inner circle, including some groups flaunting left-wing flags, who until recently cultivated the illusions about the "axis of resistance". Ignoring the destructive effects of the regime's neoliberal policies at home and the reckless foreign policy that seeks to export the reactionary views of "political Islam", these groups claimed that "Axis The resistance" will protect Iran's national interests, its security and its sovereignty against American imperialism. Some even expected the Islamic Republic, with the help of the "Axis of Resistance" and through a direct military confrontation with Israel, to save the Palestinian people. This is instead of acting responsibly and promoting peace and a ceasefire to put an end to the massacre in Gaza. What salvation can the Palestinians hope for from the regime of the Islamic Republic, which is not even able to save the people of Iran from deep poverty and injustice? The great suffering of the Palestinian people in the last seven decades, as well as the legitimate, courageous and determined struggle of the Palestinians for independence, were blatantly exploited by the Islamic Republic. The regime saw them as means to advance the vision of the "Islamic Caliphate" in the region, and to strengthen its authoritarian rule at home and abroad. The clear failure of the "axis of resistance" policy from the creator of the theocratic regime, together with the urgent need to prevent war against the background of the dangerous regional situation, should serve as a lesson for the left and the progressive national forces. The Iranian experience proved once again that the path to fundamental political and economic change and the protection of national interests cannot be realized through governments or reactionary militias loyal to the concept of "political Islam". This type of reactionary Islamist forces and regimes - from Afghanistan to North Africa - collaborates directly or indirectly with American imperialism and its allies in the region. It deals a deep blow to the popular struggles and the efforts of the left and the progressive national forces. In recent decades, the absence or weakness of popular forces in the region, along with the rise of religious-reactionary governments and forces, have played a central role in the lack of economic and social development, in the denial of freedom, in the worsening of Israeli aggression and in undermining the peace. Recognizing the dangerous situation and the growing threat of a regional war involving Iran, the "Thank You" party once again points to the important role of the left - to protect peace. We must join hands and rebuild the peace movement in Iran so that it is stronger and broader, and can stand up against war and militarism. We must stop the massacres in the region and promote popular struggles against the occupying and dictatorial regimes, to ensure a life of dignity for nations and peoples. https://maki.org.il/ https://www.tudehpartyiran.org/" target="blank">https://www.tudehpartyiran.org/ Back |
